A pop of colour here, a layer of texture there - it feels like there's infinite ways you can refresh your home thanks to seriously stylish homes on Instagram providing the goods.
We love keeping tabs on beautiful interiors via the good 'ol gram and when we stumbled upon @thestylesociete we fell in love instantly. It's a little farmhouse, a little Nordic and a little boho (and we're totally inspired by how she fuses these three styles together and made it her own!). Hazel's home feels fun-loving, free-spirited, lush and luxurious: a perfect match with Siesta Home. So, we did what any interiors-obsessed biz would do, we reached out to the lovely Hazel from The Style Societe and we invited her into our Siesta Home! (geddit?)
We gave Hazel her very own Siesta #StyleChallenge and she accepted. Yay!
What's the challenge? It's simple. We sent a ~mystery box~ of Siesta Home goodies to Hazel and gave her full reign to style up a storm in her home!
What's in the box? For all the curious cats, here's everything we sent in Hazel's mystery box:
Which room? The bathroom is one of the places in your home that actually makes you feel *at home*. It's the space you perform your morning routine and evening rituals, but despite being a pretty practical spot; how it's presented can help you set the mood for your day. Gone are the days of shabby bathmats, boring towels and basic bath products. Today's bathrooms of Instagram are beautifully designed, full of personality and evoke that ~day spa~ vibe in the comfort of your own home! Hazel's is no different. The gorgeous gold accents and sleek subway tiles make for the perfect clean slate to inject a little Siesta style into the bathroom.
Here's a before picture of her light-filled, tranquil bathroom. We love a hint of greenery and the boldness of the black cabinetry and bathtub in an otherwise neutral space. #bathroomgoals
Here's an after picture of Hazel's bathroom with the addition of Siesta Home - it instantly *pops*!
It's always surprising to us how a few extra pieces can instantly elevate a room. Bright colours and luxurious textures are always welcome in a bathroom space.
It's not just your bathroom that gets a refresh. Don't forget to treat yourself to some beautiful bath products.
We're super stoked about Hazel's bathroom refresh... and a little cheekiness in the bathroom never hurts too!
Q&A with Hazel B of The Style Societe
SH: How would you describe your home style?
HB: I would describe our home style as ‘relaxed-luxury’. I like knowing a house feels comfortable and lived-in, but at the same time I love incorporating grand elements such as soaring vaulted ceilings and hints of brass.
Having gone through the building process a few times, we were fortunate to customise our home to suit our lifestyle and tastes. Despite being a new build, I quite like that it doesn’t feel like a straight copy and paste, and that we were able to incorporate character and personality into our home. I’d say our aesthetic is a combination of nordic design, farmhouse and bohemian influences. While we keep a quite neutral colour palette, we use a lot of texture in our home and we’ve incorporated unique elements such as barn doors, shaker profile cabinetry and highlight windows.
SH: How did you design your bathroom in this style challenge?
HB: With our bathroom being quite monochrome, it was exciting to see some colour in the bathroom styling package that Siesta Home sent over! For me, foremost it was about functionality and thinking about what a bathroom actually needs. As a wet area, the Nudie Rudie bathmat is a perfect way to dry those damp feet, and the quote on it is that added touch of fun! Towels, washes and soaps are also a must in the bathroom, so it’s always a bonus when they’re super stylish too. It’s all about balancing out practicality and the visual aspect. As you may have noticed, I’m a big lover of plants, so any opportunity I have to incorporate it into a space it’s definitely there. It just helps make a place feel so tranquil and serene.
SH: What do you think about the bathroom transformation?
I think the bathroom transformation looks great and adds some excitement to the space. You usually think of a bathroom as a quite utilitarian area. But through careful selection you can make your simple everyday bathroom essentials into something with a bit more personality. It brings those positive vibes and energy into the home!
SH: What was your impression of Siesta Home products?
HB: I love how the Siesta products are unique, quirky and adventurous. The Nudie Rudie bathmat was so fitting for a bathroom space with that added flair! The Moss Marble soap dish is also something you don’t see every day. I love how its individually handmade and that every piece will always be beautifully unique. Another aspect I noticed about Siesta Home is its care for the environment. Products such as the Miss April towels and Base ethical soaps are just some of the examples that are eco-friendly.
SH: What are three styling tips you could share?
HB: As I mentioned before, firstly it’s all about balancing the practical and the pretty. If you know there’s something that you need for a space, try find a way so that you also love how it looks. There’s no point cluttering a space with something you won’t use.
Secondly when investing into the large staple pieces such as furniture or something structural, go with timeless neutrals because these will never date. You can always add the colour and visual interest through the homewares and décor that you use. As your taste changes over time, these smaller pieces are much easier to swap out. You can completely change the mood of your home by simply updating the décor and you won’t feel guilty about having over-invested.
Finally is embrace the sunshine. I love the positive feeling that natural light brings to any space. So swapping out heavy, dark window coverings (with the exception of maybe a theatre room) or at least having the option where you can adjust the amount of natural light that is let into a space, will make it feel larger and airier.
When it comes to bathrooms, our motto is: if you're gonna need to use it anyway, you might as well make it fun and luxurious. Mixing practicality with positive vibes pizazz? You have a winner.
